Active Child Announces Fall Headlining Tour and New EP Rapor

Active Child, the musical endeavor of Pat Grossi, is pleased to announce a fall headlining tour. Kicking off on Oct. 8 the tour starts in Europe then heads to Australia before bringing Active Child back to the states for a nationwide run of shows throughout November. The full list of dates can be found below.

After releasing the critically acclaimed debut album, You Are All I See in 2011 Active Child hit the road for two non stop years of US and European headline tours, shared stages with the likes of M83, and multiple festival stops including Hove Festival, Montreaux Jazz, and Australia's Laneway Festival. Following this international run, Grossi returned to his home studio, Rapor, in Los Angeles with a new inspiration and vision for his next release.

"Being on the road for that long was exhausting, frustrating at times, but it was occasionally highlighted with the most profound outpouring of emotion. There is no way to really explain the feeling of a complete stranger coming up to you after a show, wrapping their arms around you and sobbing uncontrollably. It was in those moments that I realized where I fit in, I guess you could say I found my place as an artist. And it pushed me further than I ever thought I could go."

After spending a year at home writing, Grossi is ready to release a new body of work titled after his mountaintop studio, Rapor. The opening track, entitled "She Cut Me" can be heard below.

Active Child's forthcoming EP is coming soon. Stay tuned for more details.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros Announce Big Top

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros in association with Live Nation today announced Big Top – a new and distinctive circus experience created and curated by the band to take place at Los Angeles State Historic Park on October 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th for four nights and two days on the weekend including a matinee show on Sunday, October 20th for families. The festivities will take place under a traditional Big Top and include an intimate headlining performance in the round by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, a unique farmer’s market, beer gardens, late night happenings, and performances by an eclectic mix of musicians, vaudeville comedy, contortionists, acrobats, puppetry, and interactive performance art.

“These days a band is a fast machine, cramming in dates, cutting fat, making the most money it can. Far gone are the ancient days of the traveling troubadours, lingering in towns, meeting the people, entertaining for days,” said the band’s Alex Ebert. “If you tour, or you have been to a ‘professional’ show, you may have had the sense that something is missing from the experience...And so, here comes the idea of Big Top - a one-off experiment in reaching for a more colorful, soulful, way to tour.”

Since forming in 2007, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros have toured all of the world creating unique experiences and happenings with their music and live performances, including a residency at the Regent Theater in 2009, the Railroad Revival Tour with Mumford & Sons and Old Crow Medicine Show in 2011, five nights of performances at the Old Vic Tunnels in London in 2011, and last week’s headlining performance at Los Angeles’ famed Hollywood Bowl.

Big Top will continue the band’s tradition of curating a uniquely interactive experience for fans. Continuous entertainment and activities will transform a single location into distinct yet equally captivating environments by day and night. The outdoor space surrounding the tent will offer a carnival like setting with a farmer’s market, avant-garde performances, and games as well as local vendors, artisans, and charities. Within the tent, 360 degree tiered seating will allow for intimate performances in the round. During the day, selected films and visual art installations as chosen by the band will be highlighted. At night the tent will present an eclectic mix of featured artists to perform, entertain, and inspire. Ultimately, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will take the stage surrounded by fans on all sides to bring this fantastical adventure to fruition.

Tickets for Big Top will go on-sale on Friday, August 9th at 10:00 AM PST. For additional information, please visit
