Thrice Premieres New Song "Black Honey" via NPR

Just last month Thrice announced the release of their ninth studio album, To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere. The album was produced by Eric Palmquist and will be released on May 27th. Today, fans can hear a new track off the album, “Black Honey.”

“Black Honey was built from one of the first ideas we started jamming on when we got back together to write this record,” Dustin tells NPR. “Lyrically the song spawned from an image that popped into my head; someone continually swatting at a swarm of bees to get their honey, but somehow not understanding why they would sting back in return. It seemed a fitting metaphor for much of U.S. foreign policy.” Listen HERE.

In celebration of To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere, Thrice will be hitting the road in June with La Dispute and Gates. A full list of dates can be found HERE.

Josiah & The Bonnevilles Sign To Vagrant, Premiere New Song "Cold Blood"

We’re excited to welcome Josiah & The Bonnevilles to the Vagrant family!

Tennessee’s Josiah & The Bonnevilles are pleased to announce the release of their debut EP, Cold Blood. Comprised of four tracks co-produced and mixed by Dave Way (Fiona Apple, Paul McCartney, Macy Gray). Cold Blood reaffirms the principles of Americana as a genre that can offer listeners sincere and universal insight through genuine story telling.

Today, the band debuted their brand new track “Cold Blood” on Sodwee, which you can hear HERE or below.

Josiah tells Sodwee this about the song:

“I wrote Cold Blood when I was living between Vegas on my own and in LA with my ex, it was not an easy song to write”, he explains, “I’m not sure if it’s a break up song, or a song about being a failure, or a fraud, I guess it’s a mix of all of those things”.

and this about the track’s sound:

“at the time I was listening heavily to Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt whose music played a big role in the production approach… That, and having to be resourceful budget-wise, for instance, the background singer on “Cold Blood” and “Can You Hear It”, Elizabeth Hopkinson, was someone I found on Craigslist”.

Josiah & The Bonnevilles’ Cold Blood EP arrives this Friday. Catch the band on tour this month with William Elliott Whitmore and in Canada all this summer. Full tour dates can be found HERE

PJ Harvey's The Hope Six Demolition Project Out Today

PJ Harvey’s ninth studio album, The Hope Six Demolition Project, is available today!

The Hope Six Demolition Project draws from several journeys undertaken by Harvey, who spent time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period. “When I’m writing a song I visualise the entire scene. I can see the colours, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture. Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with”, says Harvey.

The album was recorded last year in residency at London’s Somerset House. The exhibition, entitled ‘Recording in Progress’ saw Harvey, her band, producers Flood and John Parish, and engineers working within a purpose-built recording studio behind one-way glass, observed throughout by public audiences.
