WATERS Release New Track, "You Don't Know What You Want"

WATERS have unveiled the newest track from their forthcoming album Something More! “You Don’t Know What You Want” is available now on all DSPs.

The Californian 5-piece will release Something More! this Friday May 19th, the band’s first release since 2015’s acclaimed What’s Real. Written and recorded over the past year in LA, following big-time touring runs with the likes of Weezer, Tegan and Sara, and Matt and Kim, the album came together after the five-piece band returned home and were forced to confront the day-to-day realities of everyday life.

Lead singer Van Pierszalowski says, "You Don't Know What You Want" is a mashup of various flashes of conflict and disagreement I've had in relationships in between long stretches of highway and days spent hanging out at the Subway on Kodiak Island in Alaska. There have been so many times in my life where I have literally no idea what is going on in my partner's head and I wanted to make it all into a fun pop song so I could deal.”

WATERS Hit Reno In New Video For “Molly Is A Babe”

WATERS’ “Molly Is A Babe”, described by Stereogum as “...a scathing outcry against shitty day jobs, but also somehow a feel-good go out and seize the day anthem”, now has a suitably messy/happy video to accompany it directed by Jonathan Chu.

Lead singer Van Pierszalowski says, “Sometimes it’s hard to come up with an idea for a music video. That was certainly not the case for "Molly Is A Babe." Ever since we all started touring together, we fell in love with Reno and went out of our way to stay there whenever we could. It's such a glorious mess of flashy lights and empty hotel rooms. We've been daydreaming and brainstorming ideas and excuses to shoot a video there for years. Luckily, Reno also inspired our new song, so it was a no-brainer. We spent the night together in Reno and brought a good friend to film it.”

The Californian 5-piece will release Something More! on May 19th, 2017. Pre-order the album below!

WATERS Share New Video For "Hiccups"

WATERS have unveiled the video for their power pop single “Hiccups”!

WATERS’ lead singer Van Pierszalowski says of the vivacious video, directed by Jonathan Chu of POP ETC, “It reflects the idea that life is inherently stacked against you, and the only way to get through it all is to embrace the fuck-ups, face-plants, and failed dreams as part of the journey. We wanted to make sure the video reflected the weird and fun nature of things while being aware that you will probably fail a ton on the way."

WATERS Announce New Album Something More!

WATERS have a new album! The Californian 5-piece will release Something More! on May 19th, 2017. First single, “Hiccups”, an energetic guitar driven power-pop ode to figuring things out, is out today.

Something More! is the band’s first release since 2015’s acclaimed What’s Real. Written and recorded over the past year in LA, following big-time touring runs with the likes of Weezer, Tegan and Sara, and Matt and Kim, the album came together after the five-piece band returned home and were forced to confront the day-to-day realities of everyday life.

Frontman Van Pierszalowski sees Something More! as both a gut-punch and a wake-up call to his younger self. “I wanted to make a record that was communicating with my teenager self, as if to say "It's always gonna be the same shit just in slightly different contexts.”...I wanted to make a mixtape, scribble notes all over the paper sleeve, get into the DeLorean, find high-school Van, and say "LISTEN TO THIS."” With that concept in mind, the band wrapped the record in some influences that the awkward teenage version of Van could listen to.

And while lead single “Hiccups,” produced by Tim Pagnotta (Walk The Moon), sounds euphoric on first listen - all chant-along vocals, adolescent angst and rowdy riffs - it finds Pierszalowski bellowing “I ain’t got no regrets…all my fuck-ups, all my hiccups, only brought me to you.” “I wanted to express that the fuck-ups and the mistakes are a necessary part of the struggle to figure shit out. Don't beat yourself up about it so damn much,” he says of the Pinkerton-inspired cut.

To that end, the bulk of the songs that comprise Something More! speak to feelings of restlessness and being alone, as well as having uber-intense issues with lovers, friends and family. But, as Pierszalowski says in explaining how in spite of this the album contains some of the most raucous, hook-driven songs of the band’s career, “These songs are pop songs. They sound fun on the surface. But they are dark songs in disguise.”

WATERS Premiere New Video for "I Feel Everything"

WATERS is excited to share the fantastically grimy new video for their single "I Feel Everything"! "The video was shot at the Pink Motel, which is on the outskirts of LA and is a living artifact from the '50s," says frontman Van Pierszalowski. "It reflects the perfect combination of lost romance, grim present, and slightly hopeful coloring that the song is about. I'm tired of music videos with rock bands featuring smiling happy people with nice perfect haircuts. I wanted this video to be uncomfortable, and for the viewer to be filled with emotions, both positive and negative, because that is what the song is about." Check out the premiere via Billboard or watch below.

WATERS kick off their west coast tour with Tegan & Sara today. Starting at The Paramount tonight in Seattle, the band hits every major market along the coast, wrapping up in Los Angeles at The Palladium before a one off show on Nov 21st with Cold War Kids in Oakland. WATERS Announces New EP, "I Feel Everything" Premieres Today

We are very excited to welcome WATERS to the Vagrant roster! WATERS will release their new EP, It All Might Be OK, on October 14th. Inspired by the growing absence of rock in “alternative rock”, WATERS began writing the 4-track EP which was recorded in LA with Ryan Rabin (Grouplove). Today, you can pre-order the EP on iTunes and instantly get a download of the track “I Feel Everything” which perfectly embodies the sentiment behind the entire EP.

This song came about after listening to alternative rock radio for the first time in ages and recognizing the lack of anything alternative or rock about it,” notes frontman Van Pierszalowski. “Where are those dirty guitars? Where is that frenetic energy? Where are the songs that made us want to start a band in the first place? Most days don’t feel like they’re going to be the best days of your life. Most days are kind of fucked up. And it’s nice to have a sanctuary for those days, and for us—that’s always been rock and roll. ‘I Feel Everything’ is our rally call to get that back.” Stream WATERS’ rally call via SoundCloud below.

After finishing school and coming off of years on the road supporting former music projects, Van decided to live and work in San Francisco, allowing himself to stand still for the first time in ages. The calm gave way to creative restlessness and the result was a new band and a new sound in the form of WATERS. Earlier in the year the band released the single “Got To My Head” which was hailed a “big high five of a song” by Stereogum and a song with “enough youthful sizzle” to make fans eager for new music by BuzzbandsLA. A new full-length is currently in the works, but in the meantime WATERS will support It All Might Be OK on the road throughout the fall including dates with Magic Man, Smallpools, and Cold War Kids. A full list of upcoming tour dates can be found HERE.

It All Might Be OK Track List:
1. Got To My Head
2. I Feel Everything
3. Over It
4. Down Together
